Parent-Teacher Conferences

As many of you know, one of the things that is unique to PKY is the long-standing tradition of every elementary teacher meeting with every parent. These face-to-face parent conferences early in the school year help build positive and personal relationships with families that support teachers and their students throughout the school year.  Mrs. Montgomery and I will be contacting you within the next week to set up a time when we can meet.  Please be on the lookout for an email.

Homework Reminder

Please make sure that your child brings home new Math and Language Arts homework every Friday (or the last day of the week).  Students need to return completed homework every Friday (or the last day of the week).  We allow a 1-day-late grace period.  Student homework without names will not be graded, so check your child’s packets to ensure they’ve written their name.  Mrs. Montgomery and I are available throughout the school week to answer student homework questions and clarify any confusions.

Homework Time occurs every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:30 – 3:00 in the 4-5 Treehouse.  At 3:00, students who attend afterschool will be escorted to the portables and all other students will proceed to the blue benches to await parent pickup.  Please remember this is simply a time and space to help them complete their reading, math, and writing homework, not a tutoring session.

Home Reading – It’s a Must!!!

How is your child doing with Home Reading?  Are they completing the expected 150 minutes each week?  Do they need help finding a book?  Are they reading different types of books?  Please let us know if we can help your child in any way.  This is an incredibly important component of their success this school year.  Use the questions below to make sure your child is thinking about the book they are reading.

Homework Time is a great opportunity to do your home reading!  There are sessions every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:30 – 3:00.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

A parent volunteer, or two, is needed to help us skim through testing booklets.  The purpose is to find out how many need to be replaced.  So it’s an easy task, yet tedious!  Please let Ms. Geiger or Mrs. Montgomery if you can help out.
